Greens in the Kitchen = Green Kitchen

Whirlpool, the makers of many appliances in the US and world wide, have whirlkitchen-ed01come up with a way to reuse “wasted” energy from your ‘fridge coils to the water from the dishwasher and sink to green up your kitchen.

Looks great, but – where do you store your dishes? keep them in the dishwasher?

At first glance, I thought “what a great idea! Have the plants grow right on the cupboard doors – then I thought of opening them for the breakfast bowls (slosh! out goes the greywater onto the counter), then closing the door (slosh! up the door, down the door, onto the counter again).

They’ve got a larger kitchen than I’ll ever have, but the ideas get the DIY gears turning: maybe a use for all that wasted space above the cupboards where we should (and d0 – sort of) dust regularly.
