Solar Wind Power: Generating Power In The Future
by aperkins01096 on Oct.20, 2010, under wind
As the world discovers new ways to meet its growing energy needs, energy generated from Sun, which is better known as solar power and energy generated from wind called the wind power are being considered as a means of generating power. Though these two sources of energy have attracted the scientists for a very [...]

Solar and Energy Storage – A Perfect Match
by aperkins01096 on Oct.20, 2010, under solar electric
Besides grid stabilization and load leveling, storage systems can potentially provide back-up power to thousands of residential and commercial customers, especially when solar or wind is not available.
CARLISLE SCHOOL DISTRICT UNVEILS ONE OF PENSYLVANIA’S LARGEST SOLAR ARRAYS
by aperkins01096 on Oct.20, 2010, under heat
The Carlisle Area School District today unveils a new 1.2 megawatt (MW) solar power array that will help educate as it provides clean renewable energy. Henkels & McCoy, Inc., headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, designed and constructed the solar array using solar panels from industry leader Sharp. The solar installation is expected to produce approximately 1,500,000 kilowatt hours of solar power a year. On an annual basis, the solar energy produced will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 2,055,000 pounds, the equivalent of eliminating 178 cars from the road per year. Carlisle School District will now be able to meet approximately sixteen percent of its electricity needs with clean, emissions-free solar power.
California Enters the Renewables Tug-of-war
by aperkins01096 on Sep.28, 2010, under heat
On September 23, the California Air Resources Board approved regulations requiring utilities to obtain a third of their power from alternative energy sources such as wind, solar and geothermal by 2020. California currently gets nearly 14 percent of its electricity from renewable sources, and the state is pushing utilities to reach a 20 percent renewable energy standard by next year.
Hybrid Organic Solar Cells Now More Efficient

Northeast US a smart energy testing ground
by aperkins01096 on Aug.21, 2010, under solar electric
“Ben Franklin’s saying, “Out of adversity comes opportunity” seems to characterize the energy sector in US Northeast. Electricity rates are among the nation’s highest. Population density leaves scant room for new power plants and transmission lines. And the region has little indigenous generation fuel.
So what’s the good news?
“This is why a very large and well spent push for energy efficiency and energy conservation has taken place in the Northeast,” says Ron Tabroff member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and former chairman of its Power & Energy Society, Boston Chapter. …”
